Best 8 Hobbit & Lord of the Rings Themed Gifts

Hobbit HoleFrom Hobbit Holes to a Sting replicas, here are 8 great Hobbit & Lord of the Rings themed gifts for your little Tolkienists and Hobbiteers.

If your kid is a huge Hobbit fan–or if that’s just the excuse you make in order to hoard Hobbit-themed goodies for yourself–then I’ve got a rundown of the best 8 gifts you absolutely cannot pass up!

For the past eighty-five years, readers have been enchanted by J.R.R. Tolkien’s tale of a small, furry-footed fella named Bilbo and his adventures with wizards, dwarves, elves, shape-shifting bears, dragons, and Lonely Mountains.

And then they were swept away on an even longer, stranger, more epic adventure in the three Lord of the Rings novels, following a new group of unlikely hobbit heroes.

I certainly count myself among that number. Do you?

Well, for those of us who spent days, weeks, months, and even years living vicariously through Bilbo, Frodo, Merry, Pippin, and Sam’s grand escapades, a physical memento of that world is undeniably cool. Whether that’s a t-shirt, a book, a bit of clothing, or a piece of jewelry, we like to wear our hobbit pride on our sleeves for all to see.

If your kid has inherited that Tolkien gene, here are 8 unbelievably awesome gifts you can give him or her that will make their hobbit-friendly hearts swell.

And, who knows, you might even find something for yourself.

(Spoiler alert: you WILL.)

8. Hobbit T-Shirt

Hobbit ShirtMatt Humphrey’s RedBubble page has a ton of worthwhile Hobbit-themed t-shirts, each and every one of which your little Tolkienist will be happy to own.

This Minimalist one is my favorite, but there are also designs that feature Abbey Road-esque images of hobbits walking across the street, a colorful picture of a hobbit door looking out upon Bag End, Gollum’s hand reaching for the One Ring, and a clever stop light image with Gandalf taking the spot of the red light on top

You shall not pass! You shall look at these! You shall purchase one for your kid! … And one for yourself, too.

7. Hobbit Feet Slippers

Hobbit SlippersThese are just too bloomin’ cool. On cold mornings, you want your kid’s feet kept warm when she hobbles down to breakfast. So slippers are a must. But why go for the plain, old, boring varieties?

These hobbit foot slippers (called Furry Adventure Slippers to avoid any legal hassles…) will do the trick nicely. And they’ll aid your kid when he wants to film his own version of the hobbit with himself in the lead role.

The slippers feature individual toes and enough top hair to make the stoutest of Proudfeet happy.

6. Hobbit Cloak

Hobbit CloakAnother piece of the costume puzzle for your kid’s homemade Middle Earth adventures is this excellent cloak made by Brielle Costumes on Etsy.

The cloak is inspired by the elvish cloaks given to the hobbitses by Galadriel and crafted from a forest green fabric with a fully-lined hood.

They’re designed for ladies or teenage girls with a 5’7″ frame in mind. But if your kid is a different size, don’t fret! Simply pop Brielle an email and she’ll hook you up. You can even get a leaf pin if you wish!

5. The Unofficial Hobbit Handbook

Hobbit ReadingIs your kid a bonafide hobbit looking to go on his or her own adventures? If so, you gotta pick up a copy of the Unofficial Hobbit Handbook to help them on their way!Unofficial Hobbit Handbook

The book, authored by Scott Francis, Peter Archer and Jeff Gerke, is your one-stop guide to helping you out of sticky situations (spider-caused or otherwise), avoid real ugly trouble (orcs, goblins and more), and find the treasure at the end of your quest (be it underneath the Lonely Mountain, in the middle of the Misty Mountains, or at the top of Mount Doom).

It’s a super fun book and written by very well-informed hobbit fans. It definitely makes great additional reading to your favorite Tolkien tomes.

4. The One Ring

The One RingSeriously, what is a true Middle Earth fan without the One Ring? Granted, there are several One Rings out there for sale, making it a less than honest product name, but this one‘s just so amazing looking!

Yet another awesome prop for your little one’s backyard Hobbit hoedown, this version of the One Ring is made from 100% hypoallergenic tungsten carbide (yay…?) and features the elvish script of the Black Speech Sauron had printed on it (YAY!):

“One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them”

3. Sting!!!

StingNow for the wickedest home movie prop of them all: your kid’s very own Sting!

Made from stainless steel, solid steel hilt parts, and beautiful vine-motif adornments, this is a true replica of the sword used in the filming of the movies, and an excellent bit of fan memorabilia.

Now your kid can see when the orcs are coming, kill them when they attack, and live to tell the tale!

Only one issue: It doesn’t glow when orcs are nearby.

(Editor’s note: I’m definitely getting one of these for myself.)

Hobbit Hole 2This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen, and if I had the cash ($2,500… yikes…), I’d buy one RIGHT NOW. It’s your very own hobbit hole!

By far the coolest fort your kid will ever have, the hobbit hole features a round door, round window, live edge cedar roofing, floor base, and flooring. And it’s made to order!

Now your kid can have elevensies in peace as she waits for Gandalf to come knocking with a new adventure. So, so, so, so, so, so cool.

Hobbit Lovers, Rejoice!

J.R.R. Tolkien has created one of the most imaginative and enduring worlds in the history of storytelling. His characters have leapt off the pages for almost a century, taking the hands of young and old readers alike and guiding them through adventures that will never, ever die.

If your kid’s a real fan, then any one of these 8 fantastic gifts will be sure to stir their imaginations and fill them with untold hours of joy.

And if you get all of them, well then your kid can look you squarely in the eyes and proudly proclaim:

I am a Baggins

Or else they’ll be so overcome with joy, that they chase you around the house shouting:

Let Me Love You

In which case, I’d say go ahead and let them.
